U.S. autos get a bad rap
Ken Joraanstad, Bottineau I think American-made cars by the Big 3 are getting a bad rap in the press and media. I think they are great cars. I have a 1993 Olds and a 1999 Stratus, and I have been getting 30 miles per gallon consistently. I have had very little trouble with them, and one has 177,000 miles, the other 133,000 miles. There are so many Big 3 vehicles around, pickups, cars and utility vehicles, and we need well-built cars. Here in the great Midwest and fly over country between the Appalachians and the Sierras we need strong, good running cars and pickups to pull the heavy trailers hauling cattle, hay and hundreds of various loads of all kinds and sometimes in gale force winds. Those who live in the crowded cities can get by with smaller vehicles, or sometimes none at all, where distances are much shorter for them. I hope they can continue to build these American cars for us here in the great open spaces.
